Welcome to Cú Ruadh Artisans. Tá áthas orainn go bhfuil tú anseo (we are glad you are here)!
This site is a labor of love honoring an amazing soul. If you have ever been blessed to have known and loved someone who changed your life, then you will surely appreciate this site and our mission.
This site is dedicated to my first K9 search and rescue partner, Casey (An Banrion Ruadh, the Red Queen). I believe soulmates can take many forms and my relationship with Casey validated that belief. I met Casey in the Spring of 2010, I had just joined my first search team and after months of training was ready to find my first pup to train as my partner. I saw many beautiful puppies, all wonderful, but intuitively I knew I needed to feel some spark with whoever was going to be having all these adventures with me.
The instant I met Casey I knew, and it seemed she did too. Training a working dog takes your relationship to another level in general, but when you have that extra special connection- its magic. Casey was brilliant, spirited and devoted- she loved her work and she loved me. I did my best to be worthy of it.
For 11 years Casey and I trained, hiked, worked and lived together until her passing in 2021. Losing her was devastating, I lost a soulmate, best friend and partner. In working through that grief, I knew I wanted to create something that would honor her memory and carry forward the magic she and I had together.
So Cú Ruadh (Red Dog) was born. We are a collective of artists dedicated to honoring the natural world and its inhabitants. A percentage of all proceeds from sales of our work will be donated quarterly to an organization whose mission includes: conservation of wildlife, rehabilitation of wildlife, animal rescues or preservation of wild spaces. These donations will be made in memory of Casey and her indomitable spirit.
